ZILOG

Name: Zilog
Country: Aveiro – Portugal
Age: 28

Sérgio Ivan was born in 1979 in Aveiro-also known as the 'Portuguese Venice'.His youth-in the mid 1980s-was made happy by an old ZX Spectrum that his father brought as a gift for him and his old brother.

In the early 1990s, Sérgio started to listen to popular music played mainly on the mass-media FM radios and on the TV. At that time he was mainly influenced by bands like the Happy Mondays, KLF, EMF.
Around the same time he started to 'scratch' with his father's old records which included, amongst others, bands like Kraftwerk, Van Morrison, OMD, Otis Redding and James Brown. In the mid-1990s his family invested in their first personal computer-a brand new Compaq 386 DX which ran at 20MHz with 2MB of RAM. The Storage Hard Drive had 60Mb of space. At that time it was a huge machine and a priviledge to have one. A few years later, Sérgio started tracking music with an FT2 (also known as Fast Tracker 2).
FT2 was a MS-DOS music program based on sample tables with a track editor for sequencing. It was the beginning of a new era in his life: music composition without the need for any kind of music theory or music formation.

In the latter 1990s he went to University and it was here that he started to look to his music with the 'ZILOG' perspective. Zilog came to life in 2001 with the goal of creating THEPSICHOTECHNOFUNKALOGICALSOUNDOFZILOG.
